SYNOPSIS: In 1887 Texas, widowed rancher Temperance storms into Morgan's saloon seeking revenge on local head groom Holt for killing her beloved rooster, Acanthus. As tensions rise, a diverse cast of characters including enigmatic musician Kit, secretive schoolteacher Sarah, and hapless stagecoach driver Edgar get caught in the explosive turmoil, leading to unforeseen chaos.
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT: Jordan Morille is an award-winning playwright, novelist, and professor. Some of his plays include Acanthus, Norma’s Rest, Thirty Deep, and the short play Jars. Other works include the novella The Juneborn (Running Wild Press) and the novel The Blacktop Lagoon (Atmosphere Press). He currently lives in San Marcos, Texas with his wife, children, and dogs, and teaches at Texas State University.

Auditions - How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying Sr. Lincoln Community Playhouse is proud to be one of the three pilot productions of a new Broadway Sr. show, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying Sr.
Auditions will be held August 4 and 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with callbacks on August 6. Actors, age 55 and older, should bring a short song (around 90 seconds) and an accompanist will be provided. There will also be readings from the script. Many roles are available.
Rehearsals will be held Tuesday through Thursday, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Performances are September 19 and 20, both at 2:00 pm. Actors will be able to use scripts during the performance.
How to Succeed in Business Without Trying Sr. is an abridged version of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical comedy with book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser. The show is about the rise of window washer, J. Pierpont Finch, to chairman of the board and is a hysterical lampoon of the business world.
Morrie Enders will direct with Shauna Shaefer as music director. Enders noted, "Lincoln Community Playhouse was instrumental in the creation of Broadway Sr. with Music Theatre International and directing this pilot production is a fitting conclusion to my tenure as Executive Director."

Nebraska Arts Council 2026 Micro Grants Micro Grants are now open!
Micro Grants provide up to $500 of non-matching funds for artists and small organizations with Nebraska addresses, who are first-time applicants and have an annual budget below $30,000.
There are two designated tracks:
Artist Development- artists only: Focuses on enhancing an artist’s marketing, business, or creative skills through equipment purchases, training, and professional development.
Community Arts Projects- artists and organizations: Supports community-led arts projects that benefit the public, such as murals, artist panels, performances, and workshops.
Community Arts Projects must benefit the public.
Organizations must be first-time applicants to NAC.
